Montgomery Chalk the Block

Chalk the Block & the Montgomery Street Market invited people to gather along Bowness Road to create art, visit local businesses, and spend time together.

This community festival was free to attend and welcomed artists and residents to create art with a simple theme: Chalk what makes you smile. Some participants entered a competition open to all skill levels, while others used a drop-in chalk area to create at their own pace. Alongside the chalk art, a street market, live music, and family-friendly activities created more ways for people to stay, explore, and connect. The Montgomery BIA also put a strong contingency plan in place for rainy weather, including tents and clear communication with artists, so the event could move forward rain or shine.

This festival brought hundred of residents into the area to explore and connect. Montgomery’s Chalk the Block and Street Market is a strong example of an accessible way to encourage meaningful community connection.
