FAQs
Why does Good Places HQ exist? Who runs it?
Good Places HQ was created by the Federation of Calgary Communities to support community associations, grassroots non-profits, volunteer‑led groups, and community leaders, particularly those that may not otherwise have access to creative or collaborative space.
The space will:
- Act as a demonstration of community placemaking in action
- Provide volunteers with the space and tools to create community projects
- Serve as a hub for learning, networking, and collaboration through workshops, events, and shared experiences
Is Good Places HQ accessible?
The event space and garage are located on the main floor of HQ and are wheelchair accessible.
Please note that, due to the building’s history as a former industrial warehouse, the breakout rooms are located on the second floor and there is no elevator access to these spaces.
Washrooms are available on both the main floor and upstairs. However, they do not currently meet all accessibility standards. For example, washroom doors are standard width and may be difficult to navigate with mobility devices, and certain accessibility features such as grab bars may be limited.
We understand this may impact some guests and are happy to discuss accommodations where possible. Please contact us in advance with any accessibility questions or needs.
How do I get to Good Places HQ?
Our space is conveniently accessible by both public transit and car.
We are approximately a 7-minute walk from Franklin LRT station, and bus stops along the 127 Franklin Industrial route are also about a 7-minute walk away.
For those driving, we are located just off Deerfoot Trail and Memorial Drive, with on-site parking available for guests.
Is there parking available?
Yes! Parking is available in a shared scramble-style parking lot used by restaurants and businesses in the complex. Parking spaces can be found directly in front of the entrance, as well as along the sides and back of the building.
Availability may vary depending on the time of day and nearby business traffic.
