What Could Your Project Look Like?
Placemaking is about creating places and experiences in public spaces that help people connect with one another and feel a stronger sense of belonging in their community.
Your project could take many forms, from small additions to outdoor shared spaces to activities that bring your neighbours together. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
- Make a shared space more welcoming with benches, chairs, tables, or decorative lights
- Create art and creative installations such as temporary art, pop-ups, or other visual features
- Add recreational activities like cornhole, ladder toss, snow bowling, or snow mini golf
- Bring neighbours together through scavenger hunts, walking groups, geocaching, or other community activities
- Host community events such as skate nights, campfires, broom ball, or street hockey tournaments
- Create neighbourhood-wide activities such as a front-yard decoration campaign
