Centre for Newcomers Basketball Tournament

Over the summer, the Centre for Newcomers hosted a basketball tournament in Forest Lawn, creating a welcoming space for youth and families to connect through sport and recreation.

With support from local partners, the event brought community members together to play basketball, enjoy activities, share food, and build relationships with neighbours. Local youth were welcomed to join in, creating even more opportunities for participation and connection.

Beyond the game, the tournament fostered a sense of belonging and community pride. Youth had the opportunity to build new friendships, families spent time together, and attendees connected with local organizations in a fun, inclusive environment.

Hosting an activity like a basketball tournament can create meaningful opportunities for people to come together, feel welcome, and celebrate their community.
