Calgary Evergreen Shed & Stage

Calgary Evergreen Community Association created a welcoming gathering place for the community with a new shed, stage, mural, and outdoor bulletin board in a public field. Previously, the field had an unmarked shed and a temporary rink maintained by the community association each winter. This project aimed to create a central place for community activities while helping residents learn more about their Community Association.

The new shed provides storage for rink boards, while the stage offers a place to sit and a platform for community events. A colourful mural, painted by a local neighbour, helps identify the space as belonging to the Community Association. An outdoor bulletin board also gives residents a place to share community news and information.

The entire project was led and completed by community volunteers, who contributed their time and local skills. Neighbours worked alongside each other to help with carpentry, construction, hauling debris, and painting the mural. As work progressed, curious passersby stopped to ask questions, creating opportunities to connect and share information about the Community Association. Now, the space is open for everyone to enjoy at any time.
