Grants for Good Places
Brand new to Calgary this year, the Good Places Grant program funds both the physical transformation of public spaces—like adding seating, recreation, or murals—and the ongoing programming that keeps them active, such as events and community gatherings.

Apply between January 1 - February 28.
Spring intake: April 1 - May 30
Fall intake: September 1 - October 30
Funds Available
$500 - $15,000 grants for community projects and recurring programming in Calgary.
Who's Eligible?
Community Associations, Non-Profits, Charities & Business Improvement Areas in Calgary.
How to Apply
Firstly, we encourage applicants to reach out and discuss their project with us before submitting an application.
You can submit your application in the format that works best for you: either by downloading the PDF and emailing it to us, or by completing the Google Form. Please note that only one active application per group is allowed.
If you need assistance or require an alternative method to complete and submit your application, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Applicants can expect to hear back within 5–6 weeks after the application period closes.

Budget Template
You need a detailed budget to apply. Using the example budget for guidance, download and complete your own version of the budget template and attach it to your application.
Please note that the budget template will open to a browser version which is not editable, but once downloaded you can customize it to your project’s needs.
Placemaking Workshops
During each application period, we offer a series of free, online and in-person workshops to support the ideation and planning of your placemaking idea. Join us to collaborate, ask questions, and connect with fellow community innovators.
Final Report for Good Places Grant
Awarded grantees will complete this report form after their project concludes.

We've never applied to a grant before. We need help getting started!
We’re happy you’re here! If you haven’t yet, start by reviewing the Good Places Project Grant Guidelines. After that, you can attend a Placemaking Workshop, which run during each application period, where we can help you develop your project and application.
You can also reach out to us at goodplaces@calgarycommunities.com or use this booking link to chat about your ideas. We’re here to support you in designing and delivering a project in your community.
Can I apply from outside of Calgary, Alberta?
No you cannot. Projects must take place within Calgary’s city limits.
Can individuals apply?
Each application must be associated with a community association, non-profit, charity or BIA.
However, if you are an individual with a great idea, but lack a group/organization to make it happen, please reach out! We are more than happy to find you some amazing connections within our network.
Can I apply for more than one grant, or for multiple projects?
Only one active application/project per group is allowed.
Does the grant cover costs that were incurred before the grant was received?
Unfortunately we are unable to fund costs that occur before the grant is provided.
